When you write for the web, not only is it important to create quality content that strives to resolve problems the reader is having or questions the reader has been asking, it is also important to create lots and lots of quality content. In other words, volume is as important as quality when it comes to generating web content. So, if you are seeking specific methods for becoming more prolific as an online writer, what are some proven ways that you can be significantly more prolific?

First and foremost, as I have mentioned in earlier blog posts, it helps A LOT if you care about the topics you blog about (or write articles about). When you feel strongly about a given topic, it is much easier to write extensively about it. Truly! Again, as I have also mentioned, you can write about topics you feel less strongly about, but it is hard to get in the mindset to write tons and tons about stuff you don’t care much about. Trust me on this one. I’ve written about subjects that fascinate me and subjects that bore me to tears and everything in between. If being prolific is one of your online writing goals, you will be much more successful in achieving that goal when/if you write about subjects you love (or at least like).

In addition to writing about topics you love (or like), another way to be more prolific as an online writer is to set goals and then hold yourself accountable for achieving those goals. You might even want to share your goals with your spouse/partner or with a good friend and check in with that person as yet another way to hold yourself accountable for achieving those goals. (Sometimes forcing yourself to “answer to” someone else in addition to yourself can be extremely effective if you want to keep producing more and more content.)
