Welcome! This is the first post of many in the Home Based Work Opportunity blog. By way of introduction, you know how in show business, people have a saying that they have been “bitten by the acting bug,” meaning that no matter how hard it can be to do on audition after audition and face rejection after rejection, they just can’t stop. They have to keep striving, keep pushing themselves to succeed in the cutthroat world of acting because they feel like acting is quite literally “in their blood.” It’s almost as if they don’t have a choice in the matter. They feel as though they MUST keep acting or they are not being true to themselves and their hopes and their dreams.

Writers sometimes say this sort of thing as well. They feel almost like they “don’t have a choice” about whether or not to continue writing. Writing is simply a part of their being. And if they don’t continue to write (no matter how hard it is to get published or recognized as writers) they will be betraying some core part of themselves.  What I’m describing here does not sound like the healthiest behavior in the world, does it. It makes it sound like some actors and writers (and other artists of all stripes, such as painters and sculptors) engage in their art because they feel a compulsion to do so.

And in a sense that is true. If you feel profoundly driven and passionate about what you do (to create art of some kind, for example), it can take over your life in some ways. You can develop a sort of tunnel vision, where everything you see in the world around you becomes filtered through the lens of your passion, your art, the thing that drives you, or whatever else you want to call it.

Well, I’m going to make the argument here in this blog that the dream of finding the right home based work opportunity for you and fulfilling your work at home dreams can become a similar passion and obsession. And I don’t think that is necessarily a bad thing. Well, let me qualify that statement a bit. Being passionate about working at home (and about finding the specific home based work opportunity that suits you the best) can be healthy as long as you keep things in perspective and don’t allow it to take over your entire life or interfere in your other activities and passions.

Why are so many people enthralled with the idea of working from home? Earning money online is part of the allure, to be sure, but it is actually only part of the equation. What so many people want — what you probably want in your own life — is to be your own boss, set your own hours, and to figure out all the best ways to earn passive income online for all the time and passion and energy you pour into your home business. It takes time (and a whole lot of patience), and you might experience more than your fair share of false starts along the way. But if you stick with it, ir you persist and persevere, you just might achieve your work at home dreams after all. If your idea of “following your bliss” is finding great ways to work from home, then by all means, follow your bliss.
